"Smoking Gun" is a collection of outtakes and "unreleased" tracks from the Texas Galaxy era. The songs are ones that didn't quite fit onto the albums, acoustic demos of songs never fully recorded, and a few masters that I just moved on from, but can re-evaluate now.
This album begins and ends with two masters - "Thirteen" and "Let You Know" that I just deemed too commercial and polished sounding for the direction I wanted to move in. "Thirteen" was recorded with Texas Galaxy in Kila Studios and produced by Larry Hogan for our big time, major label demoing experience. Needless to say it didn't go anywhere, and this is the only song from those sessions I can bare to listen to. "Let You Know" was very nearly a single on Ambient Live Records, although we didn't sign with them in the end.
In between, there's home demos like "Raise The Bar" which I wrote with Johnny Elliott one sunny evening, acoustic demos (mostly the second half), and stuff like "Sail", which has the best backwards guitar solo ever recorded.
Its worth hearing a few of these songs if you are downloading everything else.
