About
The
Album
|
This album took a while for me to get together, been recording it on and off for about a year now, but I figured enough was enough and it was time to bash a tracklisting together and figure out what was going on. So I got it down to these twelve songs. Pretty rocking throughout, short, sharp, shock kind of style - much heavier in places with touches of distortion I've only dreamed about in the past. The other songs leftover I might stick down as "bonus" tracks, or put them somewhere else (I was considering another compliation of outtakes but we'll see).
Sound-wise this is closest to "The Mob Has Spoken", in the sense of being guitar rock n' roll. I've attempted to be a little punchier with the tracks, dryer with the sound and I also used a different drum set up to get a different feel. Its mostly got a very punk / 70s rock-oriented thing going on, which I suppose makes it a lot more immediate than "Mob" but they are different albums coming from different places. This one was always intended to be much more "plug in and play and see what happens" style album, rather than a grand statement.
As Texas Galaxy are now "back together" (as of October 2009) with a new line up, the songs we'll be playing will mostly be taken from this album, with a few others from "Mob" and maybe one from "Rise". So if you see us live you'll know where they came from! Recording-wise I've been taking a break from the rock stuff since I finished this one, concentrating on some of the project work as a diversion, but I always return to rock and who knows, perhaps the next album will be a proper Texas Galaxy band album.
Update: April 2010: I was never really happy with the tracklisting of this album, it needed something more in the second half, so I've changed it around ever so slightly and added a new song, track 9, which was recorded during the same sessions for the rest of the album.
