About
The
Album
|
Though I am now putting my efforts into recording and playing with the Riot Tapes, I still make my own music, although with less frequency than before. I had a few songs knocking about which I thought would go well together, and that's pretty much where this EP comes from.
I'm still using the "Texas Galaxy" name for the more rocking stuff, and that's what this is: Four pretty fast, punky, noisy songs. "Fire In Los Angeles" itself is quite a commercial track I think, its pretty catchy and could be a "single", if such things were important. The final song "Rise" is a re-recording of the song from the "Rise" album; I sort of accidentally recorded it and I figured it was good enough to go somewhere!
The middle two tracks are slightly different in that they are a bit grungier. Those kind of tracks are great fun to do and I wrote those two songs within days of each other and got to mess about with some really fuzzy guitar sounds. These two songs are most like the tracks on the "Fix Your Head" album, whereas the other two are more like the "Desperate Measures" songs.
I had an idea a while back of making a double album, covering all the styles of music I've done over the years. That's where these tracks were headed but I realised I just didn't have the time anymore, as things are getting more and more busy with the Riot Tapes. So the double album may not be happening but I'm sure I'll still be recording songs here and there and either putting up EPs, single songs, or maybe I'll get another album done eventually!
