About
The
Album

2009 saw me put up a lot of music, from "Fix Your Head", to "1995", "Vandervalt", and now this four track EP, released in November 2009.

Texas Galaxy are back! Well that's the decision I made with this one, to put it up under the Texas Galaxy name, rather than my own name, for no reason at all other than I just thought it would be cool. More specifically though, these songs mostly date back to the Texas Galaxy band days, so I figured I'd reference that fact by using the name again.

Songwise, three out of four of these songs were played with the original line up, around 2004 - 2005, so as songs they pre-date "Fix Your Head" and even "The Mob Has Spoken". They weren't recorded for those albums because I didn't think they quite fitted (although "You'll Never Believe The Nerve Of Some People" nearly made it); I always liked the songs, and wanted to record them, which led perfectly to the idea of making an EP.

The style of this EP is something of a mixture of the big rock sound of "Mob", and some of the touches I've been putting into my project work (e.g. "1995") - strings, organs, pianos, as well as the usual loud guitars. "I Will Be Dead Tomorrow", for example, uses 32 tracks filled with guitars, strings, two different drum kits, keyboards, effects and so on. "Breakdown" and "Nerve" are more straightforward rock songs, and "Bombs In The Back" is another mini-epic, with lots of different things going on. Its nice to stretch out every now and again with no restrictions and throw everything into the mix!

I believe these are some of the best recordings I've ever done. Where I go from here is anyone's guess, but I think this EP tops off what I feel has been a very productive year for me.
